Brother Fish Ranch FAQ's

Know Before You Go

Where are you located?

Brother Fish Ranch is located just minutes outside Calgary in the Foothills of Alberta. Once you register for a workshop or book a visit, you'll receive detailed directions and a Google Maps link straight to our gate.

What's your refund policy?

We want to be fair and transparent. You can find our full refund and cancellation policy here Policy Page

Can we tour before booking?

We'd love to show you around. Reach out at [email protected] to arrange a visit and we'll find a time that works.

What noise should I expect?

Brother Fish Ranch is a working ranch surrounded by nature — and we wouldn't have it any other way. You may hear horses, birds, wind, and the sounds of the land. Our neighbours have some spirited dogs who occasionally have something to say, and we have our own chickens and roosters who keep their own schedule. It's all part of the authentic ranch experience — raw, real, and a little bit wild. If you're looking for silence, you'll find a different kind here — the kind that only nature provides.

Can I bring my pet?

We love animals — we live with them! However for the safety of our animals and your pet, we ask that you leave your furry friends at home when visiting for workshops and events.

What if it rains?

A little Alberta weather never stopped us. Our tipi and covered spaces are designed to hold gatherings rain or shine. In the rare event of severe weather that makes it unsafe to proceed, we'll reach out with rescheduling options or a full refund.

Can I wear my outdoor shoes in the tipi?

We ask that you bring a pair of flat indoor shoes to wear inside the tipi. We have beautiful rugs in there that we love to keep clean. It's also a lovely way to mark the transition from the outside world into this special space.

What is there to do around there?

The Foothills of Alberta are stunning — you're close to Kananaskis, Black Diamond, Turner Valley, and some of the most beautiful ranch country in the province. Many of our guests turn a workshop weekend into a mini getaway.

Are you on septic and what does this mean?

Yes, Brother Fish Ranch runs on a septic system. This simply means we ask that only toilet paper goes down the toilet — no wipes, feminine products, or anything else. There's a friendly reminder posted in the washroom. We appreciate your care for our little piece of land! 🌿

Do I need experience to join a workshop?

Not at all. Every workshop at Brother Fish Ranch is designed for complete beginners. You just need to show up — we'll handle everything else.

What's included in the workshop fee?

Everything you need. All materials, tools, and guidance are provided. You leave with a finished piece that is completely, uniquely yours.

How do I register for a workshop?

Visit our Workshops page, choose your date, complete your participant waiver, and pay securely online. Your spot is fully confirmed once both steps are complete.

How many people are in each workshop?

We keep our workshops intentionally small — a maximum of 13 participants. This means you get real guidance, real connection, and real space to create.

Are workshops suitable for children?

Participants must be at least 14 years of age. Anyone aged 14–17 must be accompanied by a registered adult guardian who is also a paying participant in the workshop.

What should I bring to a workshop?

Dress in warm layers and wear sturdy footwear for uneven outdoor terrain. Bring a pair of flat indoor shoes for inside the tipi. If you have personal crystals or meaningful stones you'd like to place inside your rattle, bring those too. Everything else — all materials and tools — is provided.

What if the workshop is cancelled?

If we don't reach our minimum of 6 participants by 7 days before the workshop date, we'll notify you right away and issue a full refund within 5–7 business days. We'll always give you as much notice as possible.
